His practice examines the use of science and scientific language to make sense of the physical world and this research is manifested through sculpture, installation, sound and photography. Beattie’s recent projects have focused on the social and environmental impact of digital technologies and machine learning.He has received a number of Arts Council bursaries and was awarded the Harpo Foundation Award in 2010. His work is in a number of public and private collections and was a recipient of the Hennessy Art Fund for IMMA collection, 2016. Recent exhibitions include Wexford Arts Centre (2018) CCA Derry-Londonderry (2017) TULCA Art Festival, Galway (2017), Irish Museum of Modern Art (2017). He is currently working on a new commission for CCA Derry/Londonderry to be shown in September 2019 and will exhibit in Circadian Rhythms at The Glucksman, Cork, from August-November 2019. €500-€700 (£450-£640 approx.)
